Protest against demolition of Lenin statue

Eluru: Activists of CPI (ML)-New Democracy staged a dharna here on Wednesday, in protest against the demolition of Lenin statue in Tripura by BJP and RSS workers.

The workers led by CPI (ML) New Democracy and IFTU reached Jute Mill Centre in the afternoon and staged the dharna at the Alluri Sitaramaraju statue. They raised slogans against the BJP and the Sangh Parivar for the demolition of the Lenin’s statue and burning of the CPM office. The New Democracy leader, Badda Venkatrao addressing the dharna said that the communal BJP which won the Tripura election had demolished the Lenin statue before forming a government. This had exposed the BJP’s hate agenda, he criticised.

He expressed concern over the BJP’s statement that they would demolish Periyar statues in Tamil Nadu. New Democracy leaders Kakarla Appa Rao, IFTU leaders Bagadi Ramana, Budumuru Srinu, D Veerinaidu, Palli Gasngaraju, Polinaidu, PDSU leaders K Nani, Imran led the dharna.
