RMC favours development works after study tour

Rajamahendravaram: The 16-day study tour of Mayor, 28 RMC corporators and officials in the corporations of Pondicherry, Coimbatore, Madurai, Bengaluru and Mysore from February 17 was completed successfully. The team had studied development activities in those municipal corporations.

Disclosing details of their tour at a media conference here on Wednesday, Mayor Pantham Rajani Sesha Sai, said that all the five corporations they visited, had been implementing ban on plastic usage and giving importance for cleanliness as well as greenery. Moreover, they were getting good revenues from tourism and from maintenance of temples. 

After visiting the corporations, the team decided to implement some development activities in the city, by getting the nod of council shortly. The activities include development of junctions with musical fountains, crocodile and snake park in Godavari Maha Pushkara Vanam, cycling paths to avoid pollution in the city, imposing of fines on the people who throw garbage on the roads and open places, collection of taxes through hoardings at community toilets, multi-parking places, riverfront project between Kotilingala Ghat and Gowthami Ghat.

The organisers of Crocodile Park in Chennai assured to extend their help to maintain Crocodile Park in Rajamahendravaram. The Pondicherry corporation is supplying water to the people at toilets by using cards like ATM cards, due to water scarcity. Moreover, they are using old designed drainage system which still works well.

Bangalore and Mysore municipal corporations are developing lakes and connecting them with each other.  Coimbatore Municipal Corporation ranked in 16th place in Swachh Survekshan programme and is giving top priority for sanitation as well as for greenery. Chennai Municipal Corporation is protecting traditions and culture with replicas of various themes. Deputy mayor Vasireddy Ramababu, corporator P Srinu and health officer Dr MVR Murthi were present.
