Help AP get polio-free distinction
Rajamahendravaram: Mayor Pantham Rajani Sesha Sai has said that state government is trying to make Andhra Pradesh as Polio-free state and conducting Pulse Polio programmes frequently.
Inaugurating Pulse Polio programme along with rural MLA Gorantla Buchaiah Choudary here on Sunday, she said the corporation arranged as many as 176 centres to administer Pulse Polio vaccine to the children below 5 years. It was the duty of the parents to bring their children to the centres for vaccination.
As many as 746 staff had been participating in the programme in the city. The staff visits every house and administer polio vaccine to remaining children to finish the cent per cent target, she added.
Rural MLA Gorantla Buchaiah Choudary advised the parents not to miss the polio vaccination for their chiildren. The government's aim was to make the state as polio-free area. The corporation arranged many centres for poilo vaccination in the city including bus stations, railway stations and other important areas, he explained.
