Pulse Polio teams to visit every home today, tomorrow

 Kakinada: Parents should actively participate by helping children get immunized in the second phase of Pulse Polio programme, said Kakinada MLA Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao here on Sunday.

He participated in the programme organised by the district medical and health department at the UPHC (Urban Primary Health Centre) at Mutta Nagar.
 
Speaking on this occasion, MLA said that there were 190 centres in the city for the immunisation programme. He informed that there are 39,914 children in the city below the age of 5 years.Speaking on the occasion, District Joint Collector Mallikarjuna said that the polio programme would last up to March 13. 

He informed that they had established 3,792 polio booths in the district to immunise 4.96 lakh children in the district.

The JC said that they would cover almost 95 percent of the total children on Sunday. On Monday and Tuesday, the concerned teams would visit every home in the district to immunise the remaining children to complete the task of cent percent, he added. DM and HO Dr Chenchayya, Immunization Officer Dr Mallik and others participated.v
