Opposition parties unite to ask govt withdraw cases on CPM leaders
Ongole: Leaders of the Communist parties, YSRCP, Jana Sena and other people’s organisations demanded that the government withdraw all cases against the arrested and jailed CPM leaders on the charges of laying siege to the Collectorate. The leaders conducted a rally and organised a protest in front of the Collectorate on Friday. They asked the police to arrest Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for not keeping the promises made to the district.
The CPM state committee member Y Siddhaiah demanded that the government include the Prakasam district in the backward districts list along with the Uttrandhra and Rayalaseema districts. He wanted the government to release the CPM leaders it arrested for fighting for the same cause and demanding the special package for the development of the district. He asked the police to arrest and remand the persons who were corrupt and working against the rights of public instead of the CPM leaders.
The CPI leader, Nalluri Venkateswarlu said that the police killed democracy and imposing sections of which the leaders cannot be granted even bail. The YSRCP leader, D Kranthi Kumar also wanted the government to withdraw the cases and release the leaders before they intensify the movement. The Jana Sena, CPI-ML, CPI-ML -New Democracy, POW, PDSU, AIFTU and other public fronts leaders and cadre also participated in the protest.
