Non-completion of quality control social audit irks ZP chief

Eluru: Zilla Parishad chairman Mullapudi Bapiraju has expressed his anger over the officials for not completing the quality control social audit of the finished works in the district.

He was presiding over the Standing Committee meeting of Zilla Parishad held at ZP meeting hall on Wednesday. Addressing the meeting, the ZP chairman said CC roads in a stretch of  1,300 kilometers were constructed with a cost of Rs 540 crore in last three years. 

However, even after three years, the officials did not complete the quality control social audit. Due to this, about Rs 30 crore payments were stopped to the contractors. “Who will take responsibility for it,” he questioned. 

He said that the contractors who did not receive the payments were paying interests to the amount spent on the construction. He asked the officials to complete the quality control social audit as per rules and pay the amount that was pending over one year.

He directed officials to take necessary steps to make the district as open defecation free (ODF) plus by giving highest priority to sanitation in rural areas. He said that out of 707 dumping yards, only 170 completed in the district. 

He noted that 1,300 electric vehicles would be provided to collect the garbage from houses in every Grama Panchayati. Of which already 140 automobiles were distributed. He directed the officials to concentrate on the complete sanitation and conduct the special drive.

ZP CEO D Satyanarayana, ZPTC members Chintala Venkata Ramana, Manne Lalita Devi, Kasaraneni Vidyasagar, Garapati Sridevi, Matta Rajeswari, Talluri Radharani, Civil Supplies District Manager Kondayya, Chief Planning Officer Balakrishna, DRDA project director K Srinivasulu, Panchayatiraj SE Manikyam participated in the meeting.
