Stress on judicious use of water
Rajamahendravaram: Adikavi Nannaya University (AKNU) vice-chancellor Prof Murru Mutyala Naidu has underlined the need to conserve water as well as its judicious use, which is need of the hour. Water is going waste in many areas and no one is putting their efforts to arrest the wastage.
Addressing students in connection with World Water Day held at the campus here on Thursday, he said without water there is no life. It is the duty of everyone to protect water resources and its sanctity. People living on river side, including those of Rajamahendravaram had been purchasing drinking water. This was a reason for serious concern.
Many sastras told about the sanctity of Godavari water and advised the people not to pollute the river water.
He advised the students to know about the importance of water and conduct awareness programmes. The future generation faces problems, if water sources were not protected now. Water sales business worth $400 billion was going on every day across the world.
The government was initiating steps to protect groundwater reserves
and asked the students to take part in the programmes and the university extends its cooperation in this regard.
Programme coordinator M Bala Krishna and students of the university were present.
