Tobacco Board to give monetary relief for death of growers

Ongole: The Tobacco Board officials organised the 22nd regional committee meeting on the farmers’ welfare fund at the regional office here on Friday. The regional committee members from the farmers, auction supervisors and accounts managers participated in the meeting and reviewed the applications received until now.
The officials approved to pay Rs 22.5 lakh for natural deaths of 39 farmers and Rs 1 lakh each for the accidental death of three farmers.
The proposal is being sent to the main office for final approval, said the SBS regional manager G Umamaheswara Rao. He also said that the present market conditions and the help required for the farmers was also discussed in the meeting.
