Palm Sunday celebrated

Vijayawada: Palm Sunday was celebrated at various churches across the city with jubilation. Children decorated the palm leaves beautifully with flowers and carried them to the churches in a procession with joy. 

Gunadala St Johns Church priest John Babu, informed that Palm Sunday is an extremely important day for Christians. Palm Sunday mainly signifies the wonderful Sunday celebrated just before Easter. Palm Sunday is also the 6th and the last Sunday in the Lent and it also marks the beginning of the holy week. 

Palm Sunday reminds the victorious entrance of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem for the main purpose of celebrating Passover riding on the back of a donkey. Donkey is a symbol of peace, he added.
