Adorned coconuts sent to Bhadrachalam for Navami

 Kakinada: Lord Rama Chandra’s wedding at Bhadrachalam is a very famous event in the two Telugu States. During the wedding ceremony, priests of Bhadrachalam will offer coconuts to Lord Rama and his consort, Sita.

Mandapeta is a municipality in East Godavari district which earned the fame by supplying the beautifully decorated coconuts for Sri Rama Navami festival for 18 years.
K Rama Reddy and his wife Maha Lakshmi of Mandapeta town also supply coconuts to Kodanda Ramalayam at Ontimitta in Kadapa district and a famous Ramalayam at Gollalamamidada in East Godavari.

The couple said that they adorn the coconuts for the wedding by maintaining extreme austerity during the decoration. They artistically draw the names of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita and the Tirunamam on these coconuts.

 They took the decoration of coconuts as their main profession besides making of camphor, garlands which were also used in weddings of Hindus. They informed that they had sent these decorated coconuts to Bhadrachalam Rama Chandra Devasthanam on Saturday.
