Manuscripts useful in discovery of many things

Vijayawada: “When we talk about palm-leaf manuscripts, it need not be about spiritual and devotional scripture. Palm-leaf manuscripts were most valuable wealth of the nation,” said Manuscript Library and Research Study, Hyderabad director Dr P Subba Rao.

He was the chief guest at a seminar organised on ‘Old Manuscripts and its Importance’ by the Telugu department of KBN College here on Sunday.

Addressing the gathering, Subba Rao said education, medical, astrology and many more topics which were written on palm-leaf were available at libraries printed by various publishers, he said.

He said that the same was translated into various international languages and were following it. These books were very much useful to them to discovering many things. There were many scriptures available in India but they were not properly preserved. The country was losing intellectual property, Subba Rao lamented.

PB Siddhartha Telugu department head Dr A Srinivas Rao, KBN College Telugu department head Dr KV Chalapathi Rao, lecturers, students and others were present.
