99.68 % attend SSC exam on festival holiday

Vijayawada: About 55,279 students were present for the SSC examination Social Studies Paper I on Monday across the district, according to the District Educational Officer (DEO), MV Rajya Lakshmi.

In all 55,458 students appeared for the SSC public examination Social Studies Paper I at 268 centres in the district.

As many as 179 students were absent with a present percentage for 99.68. The District Educational Officer visited four examination centres, DLO visited six examination centres, Fly Squad visited 76 examination centres, MROs visited 50 examination centres and special officers visited 50 examination centres.

According to the DEO, there was no report of malpractice from any centre in the district. Examinations were held at all 268 centres under the supervision of 2,950 invigilators in the district. She said the answer papers would be kept under the custody of 62 police stations. About 62 custodians were deployed at the examinations centres, which were far away from the police stations and treasury officers.  

In each flying squad team there were one officer from the Educational Department, one from Revenue Department, a Sub-Inspector and one Armed Reserve Police, she added.
The state government has announced March 26 as holiday on account of Sri Ramanavami few days ago.However, the Class X examinations were held as announced earlier and the students had to write the examination on holiday.
