Guntur: Communist Party of India Guntur city secretary Kota Malyadri demanded that the Centre grant Special Category Status and keep up all the assurances mentioned in the state bifurcation act.

Addressing a meeting held at Mallaiahlingam Bhavan here on Sunday, he reminded that the then prime minister Manmohan Singh assured SCS to AP and BJP also assured the same. After coming to power, the BJP failed to accord the SCS to AP and cheated the people of AP, he added.

He criticised that Centre had failed to implement the assurances mentioned in the state bifurcation act including separate railway zone and setting up of steel plant at Kadapah.
He informed that his party would conduct a procession in Guntur city on March 27 from Sankar Vilas to Ambedkar Statue to mount pressure on the Centre to keep up its assurances immediately.
