City school bags 'Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar'
Rajamahendravaram: Jampeta Girls Municipal Corporation Primary School has bagged state-level 'Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar' for this academic year and Minister for Human Resources Development Ghanta Srinivasa Rao, handed over the award to school staff. Along with the puraskar, a cash prize of Rs 10,000 also given to the school.
Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation (RMC) Commissioner V Vijaya Rama Raju and the school headmistress, Naga Lakshmi succeeded in getting the award from the government. The school was developed in all fronts, on par with corporate schools.
Colour pictures were painted on the walls relating to various songs along with solar family, English rhymes, details of Rajamahendravaram city, East Godavari district, revenue divisions, Andhra Pradesh, India, figures, photos relating to all religions, hand wash pictures, Vande Mataram, Pratigna, Swachh Bharat and Mid-day meals etc. All the colour photos attracted the students as well as their parents.
The school management arranged a kitchen garden, organic manure pit, water pits etc on the school premises and has been imparting training in yoga to the students.
Students, mainly relating to minorities had been studying in the school because of ambience as well as quality teaching. The corporation officials have been expecting an increase in the admissions in this academic year.
The classrooms were named after towering personalities such as Mahatma Gandhi, Dr Br Ambedkar, Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru, Dr Sarvepalli Radha Krishnan etc. The school is a role model to the remaining corporation schools in the city.
Many complimented the efforts of Mayor Pantham Rajani Sesha Sai, Commissioner V Vijaya Rama Raju and headmistress Naga Lakshmi in this regard.
