Home guards demand enhancement of wages
Ongole: The Andhra Pradesh State Home Guards Welfare Association demanded that the state government enhance the wages as announced by the home minister in the state Assembly.The association president, S Govindu and others spoke to the media here on Wednesday.
Govindu said that there are about 15,000 home guards working in the state.
He said that the home minister made an announcement on November 21, 2017 that their wages will be enhanced as per the orders of Supreme Court delivered in 2015 and 2016 but not implemented so far. He demanded that the government implement the orders of the Supreme Court as early as possible to help the poor home guards.
He also said that the Andhra Pradesh Home Guards Welfare Association was not behind the said peaceful demonstration by S Narayana, president of the Telangana state division of All India Home Guards Welfare Association at Dharna Chowk in Vijayawada scheduled to be held from March 30 to 31.
The state secretary, Chennam Srinivasulu, PRO Bommal Chiranjeevi, members YS Subrahmanyam, G Hanumanta Rao, Basavaiah, S Raghavendra Rao and others also participated in the programme.
