Palakoderu: CPM workers organised a road blockade on busy national highway at Sringavriksham village in Palakoderu mandal on Thursday, demanding that the government release CPM leaders who were arrested on Wednesday at Juvvalapalem village in the mandal.
The workers reached the national highway and resorted to road blockade in the afternoon. Due to the road blockade, the traffic between Palacole and Bhimavaram was halted for over one hour.

The CPM Delta District Committee member K Kranthi Babu said the police had arrested CPM District Secretariat member JNV Gopalan and others at Juvvalapalem who demanded to stop the digging of fish ponds in the midst of the houses.

He alleged that the police had overreacted and forcibly pulled the leaders into vehicles while they were agitating on behalf of the villagers who objected the digging of the fish ponds. He pointed out that for the last one-week, the villagers were agitating against the fishponds in their village.

CPM Mandal committee members Seshapu Achayya, Ashok, Padarapaka Srinu, Palavalasa Ramudu, Kolli Krishna and others participated in the agitation.
