ASD device closure procedure performed at KIMS

Ongole: The first ever Atrial Septal Defect Device Closure in the district was performed by a team of cardiologists of the KIMS hospital on a 48-year-old, Yerra Dasaradha Ramaiah of Chekurapadu on Sunday. 

According to the release, the patient has been suffering from a hole in his heart. At birth, he has had the problem. He suffered chest pain and breathlessness. The hole was plugged performing a minor procedure called Atrial Septal Defect Device Closure. The device was inserted in the hole using a small wire. 

The Hospital Executive Director T Giri Naidu said the KIMS Hospital achieved a new mile stone in modern medicine. A team of the hospital doctors including Cardiologists Dr G Obul Reddy, Dr K Sridhar Babu and Intensive Care Specialist Dr Ramalingeswara Rao performed the procedure.
