Sarpanch, Upa Sarpanch of Kuppanapudi in verbal duel
Akiveedu: Pandemonium prevailed in the emergency meeting of Kuppanapudi Gram Panchayat in Akiveedu mandal on Sunday.The emergency meeting of the Gram Panchayat was arranged to discuss the drinking water problem in the village.
As soon as the meeting started, a verbal duel took place between Sarpanch Velagapalli Appulu and Upa Sarpanch Motupalli Raju. The Panchayat Secretary read out the issues mentioned in the agenda. Reacting to it, the Upa Sarpanch Motupalli Raju pointed out that so far the Panchayat did not pay the water lifting bill of Rs 79,950 that was spent in 2016. He demanded immediate payment of those bills.
The Sarpanch Velagapalli Appulu said the Panchayat had to pay bills relating to sanitation and digging of drinking water tank. The Upa Sarpanch stated that digging up of the tank had taken up as per the directions of the Collector as an emergency work without the approval of the Panchayat. He questioned why the bill of Rs 79,950 did not pay even though it had permission in 2016. As both indulged in the verbal war, pandemonium took place in the meeting.
The Upa Sarpanch pointed out that the Panchayat had removed the workers of the water tank and the staff was not paid wages for the last three months. He demanded immediate payment of arrears to those workers. The Sarpanch asked the Upa sarpanch not to politicise the drinking water tank and because of rotation system, water was not reaching to the tank.
As both indulged in the verbal dual, the Secretary D Satyanarayana adjourned the meeting. Upa Sarpanch Motupalli Raju alleged that even though he raised the issue, the Secretary did not enter the same in the minutes book. He said he would complain about the issue to the higher officials.
