Congress, Left, Jana Sena protest over SCS
Guntur: Leaders of the Congress, the Left and the Jana Sena took part in a protest organised here on Wednesday, to mount pressure on the Centre to accord Special Category Status to AP. They raised slogans against the BJP-led government for not extending benefits under SCS to the State as assured by the Centre at the time of bifurcation.A bike rally was held to Gujjanagulla via Jinna Tower, Market Centre, Sankarvilas and Lakshmipuram.
Addressing the gathering, CPM district leader Pasam Rama Rao criticised that the BJP had assured SCS at the time of elections. However, after coming to power, the party cheated the people and reminded that the BJP assured special package.
Now, it was not implementing even the special package, he said and alleged that the party had violated the Constitution. He reminded that Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu had assured that the AP would get 10 years of SCS, if BJP was voted to power. After coming to power, he forgot the assurance.
The CPM leader stressed on the need to continue the agitation for SCS, steel factory at Rayalaseema, separate railway zone for AP and release of funds.
CPI district secretary J Ajay Kumar warned that they would continue their agitation till the Centre fulfills assurances mentioned in the state bifurcation act.The Jana Sena leader, Srinivasa Rao Naidu, the Congress leader, Suresh were among those participated.
