Helmetless driving leads to fatal road accidents
Vijayawada: East MLA Gadde Rammohan Rao has said that most fatal road accidents occour due to driving two-wheelers without a helmet.
He participated as a chief guest at a rally on ‘Helmet awareness’ organised by Padmaja Suzuki here on Sunday. Speaking on the occasion, Rammohan Rao said that by wearing helmet, one can save his/her life from a fatal road accident.
Deputy Transport Commissioner (DTC) Meera Prasad said by organising helmet awareness rallies in the past, importance of helmet for bike riding was noticed by people. There was a fall in fatal road accidents.
The DTC complimented the management of Padamja Suzuki for organising this unique awareness programme. Varun Group executive director T Vinod Kumar, said that Varun Motors and Padmaja Suzuki employees wear helmet while driving. He said that for social cause, the company would always extend its support.
The rally started from Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation stadium and proceeded through Pushpa Hotel centre, Madhu Chowk, Siddhartha centre, Amma Kalyana Mandapam, Gunadala, ESI Hospital, Eluru road, Chuttugunta and old bus station. ACP Ramesh, Machavaram CI Sahera Begum and others participated in the awareness rally.
