Half-naked protest by veterinary doctors
Vijayawada: The PG students of the NTR College of Veterinary Sciences expressed their protest in a unique way with half-naked appearance on 43rd day of their agitation here on Thursday. The students were demanding that the government upgrade the Rural Livestock Units (RLU) as Veterinary Centres.
Though the students were agitating for the last 42 days, the State government was not responded to their demands. In this regard the students protested in an innovative way.
The Andhra Pradesh Veterinary Students and Graduates Association (APVSGA) is demanding that the government upgrade RLU into Veterinary Dispensaries which would provide employment and the better services to the farmers.
The APVSGA vice-president, Dr Yashwant Naidu said the college comes under Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University, Tirupati. The state government was not following the rules of the VCI and there was no problem with the upgrading of the RLUs for anyone who were already working in RLUs. The allocation of the budget was meager, he said.PG Students participated in the protest.
