Apply price stabilisation scheme for tenant farmers: APKRS
Eluru: Andhra Pradesh Koulu Rythu Sangham (APKRS) district general secretary K Srinivas alleged that the Government’s statement has no clarity on the prices stabilisation scheme for the maize farmers in the state.
He addressed a meeting held at Anne Bhavan here on Friday on prices stablilsation scheme. He reminded that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had assured the farmers that every year he would allot Rs 5,000 crore in the budget to give Minimum Support Price to the farmers. However, not even single paisa was allotted for this and during 2018-19 budget, it has allotted only Rs 50 crore. He pointed out that the Government announced the stabilisation fund and out of this, Rs 200 for quintal to maize farmers would be paid.
This would apply up to 100 quintals. However, there was no clarification whether it would sanction to the land owner or the tenant farmers. He stated that the maize crop enumeration was taken up by agriculture department. In the E-Crop enumeration, it was mentioned that land owners were the cultivating farmers.
The tenant farmers who harvested the maize were incurring losses due to this. He said that the MSP for maize announced at Rs 1,425 and the middlemen in the market purchasing at Rs 1,100 only. He demanded that the government apply the price stabilisation fund scheme to tenant farmers and purchase the maize from tenant farmer at MSP. APKRS leaders P Reddiyya and several tenant farmers participated in the meeting.
