Centenarian honoured for spreading literacy

Kakinada: Alluri Satyavathi, a centenarian was honoured for spreading literacy among masses at Grantu village in Tallarevu mandal on Sunday.Satyavathi’s relentless efforts to make rural women literate are remarkable. She personally maintains Akshara Godavari Centre and had taught the rural women on how to sign in Telugu. She is still in teaching profession at her home.

Felicitating her, the District Vigilance and Monitoring Committee member Dhulipudi Venkata Ramana (Bobby) said he was fortunate to honour the educated elderly woman. Speaking on the occasion, Bobby said that education was vital and absolutely necessary in these days to achieve success in life. He participated as the chief guest at the anniversary celebration of the elementary school at Grantu village.

He opined that without education life becomes barren.Tahsildar Joseph, MPDO China Babu, Sarpanch Sivanarayana, Head Master Ravindra, Former Sarpanch Dunna Satyanarayana, Ganesh, Simhachalam and others participated.
