Transgender appointed members of Lok Adalat benches

Ongole: The district judge, MG Priyadarsini appointed transgender as members of two benches in the National Lok Adalat held on Sunday.She said that the amicable settlement of disputes helps the both parties as well as reduce the burden on courts. She inaugurated and participated in the National Lok Adalat in the district court complex on Sunday.

Priyadarsini said, “There are lakhs of cases pending in the courts at national level and the case disposal rate is also low as there is scarcity for lawyers and court staff. As per the orders of the Supreme Court and High Court, they are organizing the National Lok Adalat for every two months to redress the disputes in a way for which both parties comes to an agreement.”

The Lok Adalat helps the parties in saving time, money and delivers the justice in a speedy way, she said.The judge appointed transgender in two of the nine benches appointed for the National Lok Adalat. 

She clarified that the verdict delivered in the Lok Adalat was equal to the verdict delivered by civil courts and there would be no appeal against it. The secretary of the District Legal Services Authority and senior civil judge, T Raja Venkatadri said that 36 benches were appointed as part of the Lok Adalat in the district.
