AKNU offering reservation to NSS volunteers
Rajamahendravaram: Adikavi Nannaya University (AKNU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Murru Mutyala Naidu has said that the students will be treated as responsible citizens of the country when they play pivotal role in social service activities along with their studies. First of its kind, the AKNU gave reservations to NSS volunteers in Nannaya CET in admissions.
Releasing NSS brochures in the campus here on Monday, he said that about 3.6 million students were working as NSS volunteers in 396 universities in the country and extending their services to the needy in society. As part of it, a total 29,000 NSS volunteers are working in AKNU which is the largest NSS unit in the country.
All the affiliated college managements were directed to arrange NSS units in their colleges and plans were afoot to bring more students under NSS roof in the university, he said. Both state and Central governments were very much particular to develop NSS concept among the students.
He appealed to the students to inculcate the habit of serving society.University Registrar Dr T Ashok, NSS programme coordinator Dr S Kiran Chandra and Kakinada campus special officer Dr Prasanthi and others were present.
