Follow rules, child shelter homes told

Ongole: The Children Welfare Committee of Prakasam district warned the organisers of various shelter homes for children in the district to strictly adhere to the rules and regulations by the government.

The committee organised a one-day discussion programme with the shelter organisers, officials and other stake holders on Monday.Speaking to the organisers, the Children Welfare Committee chairperson Ch Bharati said that the homes which were offering shelter to the children who were in dire need of protection and care were also equal to temples.

 She said that the children were sensitive and were living in the homes without their family members to foster them. She requested the organisers to love them and provide better care so that the children would become good human beings and better citizens in future.

Shaik Farook Basha, district probation officer said that there are 74 houses running in the district with government approvals. He asked them to follow the rules compulsory else they may lose the permissions.

District Child Welfare officer N Jyothi Supriya said that working with children was like a boon from the god, but involves a lot of responsibility. She asked the stake holders to work for the welfare of the children with commitment. BV Sagar, the Girls Advocasy programme officer said that it was the responsibility of the government and private organisations to work in coordination with each other for the welfare of children.
