Farmers told to avail government schemes
Pithapuram: Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Chairman Yelubandi Raja Rao on Wednesday has called upon farmers to make use of the state and central government’s schemes, including the subsidy scheme on farm mechanization, and treat agriculture as a festival.
He was participating in the Kisan Kalyan workshop, implemented as part of the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan, held at the Dogiparti Marriage Hall here. Lectures reflecting the real life experiences of experts from agriculture and allied sector mesmerized the audiences.
The officials sensitised farmers on various government schemes and subsidies available to them. They also explained them the advantages of application of technology in agriculture.
They advised farmers to raise green fodder crops in their farm during summer to improve the soil fertility. It would help augment yield in the kharif crop.
Various stalls were put up on the occasion. Several model farmers were felicitated on the occasion.
In-charge Assistant Director Agriculture Satyanarayana, MPP Vijalalata, Tahsildar B Suguna, MPDO Subba Rao, Agriculture Officer Gangadhar and others took part in the workshop.
