4 arrested, gold worth Rs 8.85 lakh recovered

 Guntur: Durgi police arrested four accused in the jewelry theft cases in Durgi on Wednesday and recovered gold ornaments worth Rs 8.85 lakh from them.

According to Durgi Sub-Inspector B Subba Naidu, during the vehicle checking, he along with his team checking the bags and purses at Dharmavaram Road found accused Ravula Durga, Mariamma, K Nagamani and Avula Vijaya carrying jewelry in the hand bags. During the questioning the accused confessed to the crime. They recovered gold from them. The market value of jetwelry was Rs. 8.85 lakh.

The accused will identify rich lonely women travelling in the buses and develop good contacts and steal gold ornaments and cash from their bags. They were involved in five theft cases in the district.
