CPI demands compensation for rain-hit paddy farmers

Kakinada: The CPI East Godavari unit demanded that the government extend Rs 30,000 compensation per acre, and purchase of discolored paddy by government to avert loses to farmers due to the untimely rains in the last three days.

The famers wing team member of the party along with party district unit secretary Tatipaka Madhu visited several villages in Kakinada and Pithapuram areas on Friday. They expressed solidarity with the farmers whose standing crops were inundated due to the heavy rains when the farmers were expecting bumper crop this season.

Speaking on the occasion, the party district secretary, Madhu said that the government should assure the farmers on the issue of purchase of discolored paddy and provide Rs 30,000 per acre towards the compensation.
