Blood donated on World Thalassemia Day

Rajamahendravaram: Jain Seva Samiti (JSS) and Mahaveer International (MI) jointly organised a mega blood donation camp at River Bay Resorts in connection with World Thalassemia Day here on Tuesday. As many as 200 Special Protection Force (SPF) personnel donated blood at the camp.

Participating in the programme, MP Maganti Murali Mohan appealed to people to donate blood liberally to save the lives. Donating blood was a boon to the people as it saves the lives. Blood can be reproduced in our body which was a god's gift.

Every person can donate blood three to four times in a year and there was no problem in giving blood.The MP advised the youth to participate in blood donation camps and bring awareness on the advantages of blood donation. God has given an opportunity to save lives by donating blood.

He assured to put in his efforts to establish a Thalassemia centre in the city to help the people afflicted with Thalassemia disease. Blood should be administered
to the patients 17 times in a year. He congratulated JSS and MI for conducting blood donation camp for the benefit of Thalassemia patients.

JSS chief Vikram Jain said as many as 181 Thalasemia patients were identified in East and West Godavari districts and asked the MP to take initiative to set up a Thalassemia centre in the city.

SPF Commandant DNA Basha, Deputy Superintendent of Police DKS Raju, Government Hospital superintendent Dr T Ramesh Kishore, Ashok Kumar Jain, Bherulal Jain, P Nirmala, Brijesh Kumar, M Suresh, Rajesh, T Balaji, DB Naidu and others were present. Dhanwantari Blood Bank and Red Cross extended their cooperation to the programme.
