Commissioner congratulates civic staff
Vijayawada: Vijayawada Municipal Corporation Commissioner J Nivas said that with the cooperation of Vijayawada people, the sanitary staff, the officials and the ministerial employees, Vijayawada city bagged the prestigious ‘India’s Cleanest Big City’ award.Speaking on the occasion here on Friday, the commissioner congratulated all the staff and said that as part of Swachh Survekshan, out of various cities with population more than ten lakhs, Vijayawada city was awarded as the India’s Cleanest Big City.
He said that with the coordination of various departments like sanitary, engineering, town planning, accounts, administration, UCD and others the city could achieve this award.
He said that garbage collection, preparing manure from garbage, renovating dumping yards, creating pleasant atmosphere by painting the walls and transforming highways as garbage-free were done under Swachh Survekshan. He said that 40 percent suggestions were taken from the people directly and could achieve this feat, he added.
Association president D Eswar, chief medical officer Arjun Rao, city planner Laxman Rao, officers Dr Rama Koteswara Rao, Babu Srinivas, Deputy Educational Officer K Durga Prasad and others were present.
