Police arrest men for encouraging betting, fake news

Ongole: The Ongole sub division police arrested two people in individual cases on Monday.According to the Ongole DSP B Srinivasa Rao, the police arrested Vissa Malyadri, Dasaripalem of Jarugumalli mandal for spreading fake messages on social media. 

The DSP said that Malyadri spread messages that a man slit the throat of a boy, but the hospital sweeper caught him and handed over to police in the 60 feet road, the area where a number of children hospitals exist and children from all over the district get treatment for various diseases. The CI Ganga Venkateswarlu and SI NL Prasad arrested the concerned person and were sent to remand on Monday, said the DSP Srinivasa Rao.

In another incident, the Chimakurthy police arrested Kandula Surendra Reddy of Kandukur for abetting a man Gangireddy Srinivasa Reddy, aged 22 years, to commit suicide and on betting charges. The CI Murali Krishna said that Surendra Reddy is an engineering student in QIS Engineering College and organises betting on cricket. 

In the betting held last month, Srinivasa Reddy lost money about Rs 22000 and was already indebted to Surendra. Since then Surendra is torturing him for the money and threatening to reveal the same to his parents. 

Unable to answer Surendra Reddy calls and face the consequences, Srinivasa Reddy jumped into Ramatheertham dam and committed suicide in April 27. The Cheemakurthy CI Murali Krishna announced that they arrested Surendra Reddy and are sending him to remand.
