Five killed, 4 injured in two mishaps in State

Guntur/Gokavaram: Five persons were killed and four others sustained severe injuries in two different mishaps that occurred in the State on Sunday. Three persons  including two  women were  killed on the spot  and three others sustained severe injuries when  the jeep in  which they were travelling  was hit  by a speeding tempo at Adigoppula village under Durgi mandal of Guntur district on Sunday.

According to Gurazala DSP T Prasad, when the jeep carrying nine persons was approaching Adigoppula, a speeding tempo coming in the opposite direction hit it.  Jeep driver Mastan Vali (40), T Durgamma (46) and another woman died on the spot.

While Masthan Vali belonged to Macherla town, Durgamma was a native of Vemavaram village under Machavaram mandal   of Guntur district. Three others who sustained severe injuries in the mishap were shifted to the GGH for treatment. 

Police suspect that rash driving of the tempo driver led to the accident. DSP Prasad rushed to the spot and inquired about the mishap. The police registered a case and took up investigation.

In another mishap which took place in East Godavari district, two youth were killed on the spot and another person sustained severe injuries when the motorcycle in which they were travelling hit a roadside tree at Singaramma Chinta Centre in Gokavaram mandal late on Saturday night. 

The deceased were identified as Geddam Nani (18) and A Aditya alias Chintu (16).  Another person Manda Ravi who sustained severe injuries was admitted to the government hospital in Rajamahendravaram. The bodies have been sent to Rajamahendravaram for post-mortem.
