Missing RSS activists traced

Visakhapatnam: Tension prevailed in the city when six RSS activists went missing on the Simhachalam Hills on Sunday. However, the naval and police launched the rescue operation and traced them.

According to sources, 20 RSS activists went for trekking on the Simhachalam Hills from Seethammadhara. On way to trekking, six out of 20 members moved from the main track and ventured into the eco-forest region towards east. In the meantime, the missing persons lost their mobile connectivity in the forest region.

The other team members after noticing that their colleagues were missing, they tried to trace them but in vain. Fearing about their safety, the team contacted Visakhapatnam North MLA P Vishnukumar Raju and sought his help.

Immediately, the MLA alerted Collector Pravin Kumar and Commissioner of Police T Yoganand in this regard. Collector Pravin Kumar urged the Eastern Naval Command to help in the rescue operation.

As many as 60 police personnel led by DCP K Fakeerappa launched the rescue operation, while naval choppers made a vigil from the air. After one-and-a-half hours, they heaved a sigh of relief after finding the team members.
