New Year welcomed with a bang
Visakhapatnam: People belonging to all walks of life welcomed the New Year 2018 on a grand note here on Sunday. Young and old alike participated in the New Year celebrations and greeted each other. Hotels, restaurants, clubs and pubs made grand arrangements for the New Year fete.
Beach front wore a festive look. Special entertainment programmes enthralled the New Year revellers. Some of the hotels made special parties exclusively for women.
The boozers expressed their happiness and enjoyed the New Year night till the early hours of Sunday. According to information, except one or two hotels, 100 per cent occupancy ratio (OR) was registered for the past three days and there is no accommodation till January 3 in any star hotel in the city.
All the public places like VUDA Park, Shivaji Park, Kailasagiri, Tenneti Park, Rishikonda, Simhachalam and entire beach front from Coastal Battery to Bheemili were illuminated.
Keeping in view of Mumbai’s nightmare, the police, fire and safety department made stringent vigil on the parties particularly on the high rise buildings. As many as 50 mobile parties have been deployed to control the drunken driving in the city. Police in civil dresses have been deployed at several places to prevent any untoward incident.
