Three suffer injuries in group clashes

Guntur: Three persons sustained minor injuries in the clashes between two groups at  Gottipadu village under Prattipatipadumandal in the district on Sunday night. According to Guntur Additional  Superintendent of Police YTNaidu, while a group of youth, belongs to the scheduled castes colony, in an inebriated condition misbehaved with the women who were playing Rangoli on the eve of the New Year.

One of the youth fell on the women which led to a clash between the two groups which started pelting stones against each other and attacking each other with sticks. The group clashes which began last night, again continued onMonday morning. When the situation was getting out of control, police swung into action.  

Guntur Urban Superintendent of Police ChVijaya Rao deployed additional forces and imposed Section 144 in the village to bring the situation under control. Guntur Collector Kona Sasidhar and SP Ch Vijaya Rao  visited the village to pacify the groups.
