Complete Polavaram by 2018: Congress

Madakasira: Commenting on Tamil Nadu super star Rajnikant’s entry into politics, APCC President Raghuveera Reddy said regional parties emerge when ruling parties fail to perform and take up anti-people activities.As an annual practice, he convened a meet with party activists on the New Year Day here on Sunday.

Raghuveera greeted people and wished a happy and prosperous New Year. Speaking on the occasion, he said the ruling parties at centre and state failed to deliver their poll promises.  He demanded that pending irrigation projects including Polavaram should be completed by 2018 and water should be provided to the farming community. He revealed that Padayatras regarding Polavaram would be held from Jan 7.

The Padayatras would be inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Pondicherry Narayana Swamy and national leaders like Mallikarjuna Kharge would be participating, Raghuveera said, Congress party was against regional party system. Youth were being attracted towards Congress after Rahul Gandhi assumed charge as president, he added.
