Poor quality jaggery in Chandranna Kanuka
Kurupam (Vizianagaram): Women of Kurupam Agency expressed their displeasure over supply of substandard jaggery in Sankranti Chandranna Kanuka. They have shown the germs in that jaggery.
The government is distributing Chandranna Kanuka for 4.87 lakh families in the district. The pack consists of jaggery, bengal gram, ghee and other essential commodities. But the locals of Sivannapeta village in Kurupam mandal were shocked to see the germs in the packets after opening them.
B Lakshmi, G Ramanamma and G Parvathi of that village said that they found the germs and fungus in jaggery. They blamed the officials for it. Anyhow, B Srinivasa Rao, deputy tahasildar of civil supplies, stated that packs would be replaced with new ones.
