Roads and buildings department awaits nod for road under bridges
Guntur: The roads and buildings department is seeking clearance from the state government for the construction of two road under bridges near existing Brodipet flyover bridge in Guntur city for the smooth flow of traffic. The officials of the engineering department prepared a detailed project report and estimated the project at a cost of Rs 60-crore and sent it to the government for taking necessary permissions.
After getting permission from the state government, it will submit an application to the railways for permission because the road under bridges will come up under the railway track on both sides of the existing flyover bridge in the city.
Railway officials have already agreed to give permission. The officials of the municipal corporation, railways, roads and buildings department officials conducted joint inspections and conducted feasibility tests before taking this decision. Soon, they will give their nod and the roads & buildings will call tenders for the construction of RUBs at a cost of Rs.60-crore.
According to GMC engineering department officials, the GMC will shift drinking water pipelines and drainage pipelines. The railway department officials would have constructed the RUBs under the railway tracks. The Roads and Building department will complete the remaining work. It will construct 7.5 meters width RUBs both sides of the existing flyover bridge which includes a footpath of one meter for the convenience of pedestrians. Once work is started, it will be completed within a year.
According to Transport Department officials, over 50,000 vehicles are passing on the existing Brodipet flyover bridge every day. After Amaravati became the capital, the rush of vehicles on the flyover bridge shot up. The There is traffic disruptions every day on the flyover bridge, causing inconvenience to the public.
Guntur Municipal Corporation Superintendent Engineer D Mariyanna said “Roads & Buildings department officials sent a DPR to the government for its nod, After getting permission, they would have to get clearance from the railways too. Then, they will call for tenders to start work. The GMC will shift the drainage pipelines and drinking water pipelines and extend necessary cooperation to the Roads & Buildings.
They will construct a two 5- meters height and 7.5 meters width two RUBs both sides of the existing in which autos, cars, two-wheelers will pass. buses, lorries, buses of educational institutions will pass on the flyover bridge”.
