APPSC to fix minimum marks in screening test
Amaravati: The government allowed APPSC to fix minimum qualifying marks in screening test or preliminary examination. The Public Service Commission will fix the cut off marks at its discretion in all direct recruitment examinations from here onwards, according the new orders of the state government.
The government issued orders through GO MS No 5 on Friday. It said the orders were issued as per the request of the APPSC in fixation of minimum qualifying marks for mains or written examinations.
Chief Secretary Dinesh Kumar said, “With partial modification of the GO Ms No. 570 issued on December 31, 1997, the government permits the APPSC to pick up candidates who obtained such minimum qualifying marks in Screening Test or Preliminary Examination as may be fixed by the commission at its discretion shall be admitted to the Main Examination in all direct recruitment Examinations”.
This modification will directly impact the Group-1 services examinations of APPSC. The Group – 1 recruitment process consists of preliminary exams or screening test in the primary stage. Then the candidates would be admitted for written exam or conventional type exams.
Then those who selected in the written exams, they would be allowed for final test, that is interview. In this process, the APPSC has been allowing the candidates to written exams with a ratio of 50 times to the actual number of vacancies at the time of notification
