Chennai to host World Telugu Federation Biennial meet in Feb

Vijayawada: World Telugu Federation (WTF) which was formed in 1993 with a prime objective of promoting and perpetuating Telugu language, culture, heritage and traditions, will host its 11th Biennial International Conference and Silver Jubilee celebrations in Chennai on February 3 and 4. So far, the WTF has successfully conduced 10 international conferences across India, Malaysia, Singapore and Dubai.

Addressing media conference in a private hotel here on Thursday, WTF  organising committee member A V Sivarama Prasad said the WTF is a non-profit, non-political and socio-cultural organisation, working with an objective of uniting Telugu people and preserving the Telugu culture, language and traditions.

He said the 11th Biennial conference will be presided over by its WTF president V L Indira Dutt and added many prominent Telugu people from various parts of the world will attend the international conference.

Sivarama Prasad said the WTF is encouraging the young upcoming artistes in rural and urban areas and giving them a chance to perform their skills in the Biennial World Telugu conference. Prof Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad said the two-day international conference in Chennai will be inaugurated at 10 am on February 3.

He informed that sessions would be held on women, youth and business followed by cultural programmes and added that prominent delegates would attend sessions to be held on February 4. He said the WTF is celebrating 25 years of its formation this year. Earlier the biennial conferences were held in Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Singapore, Visakhapatnam, Bengaluru, Dubai, Vijayawada, Chennai and Malaysia.

WTF general secretary J M Naidu (Chennai), WTF cultural association chairman P V Sai, WTF convener P Lakshminarayana were present in the media conference.
