‘`800 cr spent in EG alone on supply of protected water’
Kakinada: IT and panchayat raj minister Nara Lokesh made it clear that their government was committed to provide water for every habitation in the state by 2019. He inaugurated the Phase-II works of the Integrated Protected Water Scheme at Panduru village which was constructed at a cost of 15 crores under NABARD-RIDF (Rural Infrastructure Development Fund) here on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, Lokesh said that with this water scheme, Suryaraopeta village and 28 habitations in 15 villages would get protected drinking water. He further said that even though the nation achieved Independence 70 years ago, still many habitations in the state were experiencing drinking water problems.
The minister said that for providing water to every habitation in the East Godavari district, Rs 3,300 crores was needed and the government had already released Rs 800 crores for the protected drinking water schemes in the district. Deputy CM Rajappa, Deputy chairman of Legislative Council Reddy Subrahmanyam, Kakinada MP Thota.Narasimham, ZP chairman Jyothula Navin Kumar, MLCs Chikkala Ramachandra Rao, Ravi Kiran Varma, RWS CE Prabhakar Rao, SE Rajeswara Rao, EE Appa Rao, DE Venkat Rao and others participated.
