Cops solve kidnap case in 7 hrs

Ongole: The Prakasam district police solved a kidnap case in just seven hours with coordination and timely action.  According to police and victims, Gurram Prasad is a resident of Lawyerpet in Ongole and runs a dairy in Turpu Gangavaram.

On Thursday evening, a few people kidnapped his second son while he was returning home from school. They called Prasad and demanded Rs 70 lakh as ransom and ordered to arrange the cash in two hours. The kidnappers warned him not to go to police if he wants to see his son alive.

Despite warning by kidnappers, Prasad approached I Town police. As per the orders and guidelines of the district SP Bhusarapu Satya Yesubabu and the town DSP B Srinivasa Rao, the CI Firoz and his sub-inspectors formed teams and solved the case by arresting one Boda Pavan Sai Kumar, of Boyapalem in Guntur district.

They announced that another five members of the gang were at large and will be arrested soon. Giving details of the case, the SP said the kidnappers had kept calling Prasad on his mobile to make sure that he was not talking to police over phone.

“So, we arranged another mobile for him and kept listening to the conversation between him and the kidnappers. One of the kidnappers asked him to drop the cash bag at one of the under passes at flyover in Guntur road. Spotting the man came to collect the money, the police arrested him immediately,” he said.

The boy told the police that the kidnappers had grabbed him into a car and drove towards Chirala. He said that the car was continuously roaming during entire period. As the police arrested one of them, the kidnappers dropped the boy at the Saibaba temple around 1.30 am on Friday, near his house and escaped in the same car. 

The police identified the culprits as Shaik Wasim Akram, Adimulam, Eswarachari, Pandranki Dhanunjaya Rao and two others known to Wasim Akram.  The boy’s father Prasad said that Wasim Akram had worked as his driver for a few weeks about 6 months ago and know his fellow accused also comes to his office for the driver. He thanked the Prakasam police for solving the case immediately. The SP presented rewards to the personnel involved in cracking the case on Friday.
