All India Bank Employees Association strongly opposes privatisation of banks

Vijayawada: All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) general secretary Ch Venkatachalam and secretary Rambabu said that they would oppose privatisation of banks.  Speaking to mediapersons here on Sunday, they criticised the government for taking anti-employees’ measure.

It was detrimental to the interests of five lakh employees. They said the government should provide security for 110 lakh crore deposits of public. The privatisation of banks would deal a blow to the economy, they said.

The reforms which were proposed by government were against the aims of nationalisation of banking industry, they revealed. They asked the government to give priority for releasing loans to rural customers.

The government should announce defaulters as criminals, they suggested and added that executives should be made responsible persons. They asked the government to implement recommendations of Parliamentary committee.

General secretary Ch Venkatachalam asked the government to withdraw the proposal to put bad debts burden on common public. He said that they would collect one crore signatures on the issues to submit to the Lok Sabha Speaker in the next Parliament session.
