Toll rises to 4, Chandrababu Naidu calls on injured
Vijayawada: Death toll in the boiler blast incident occurred in a ferro alloys factory in Surampalli village of Gannavaram mandal climbed to four with two more workers succumbing to their injuries at Andhra hospital, Gollapudi on Sunday.
The victims were identified as Siva Shankar Kumar(35), Mubaarak(30), Mujahid Ahmed (26) and Satyanarayana(35). Mujahid and Satyanarayana died on Sunday after sustaining serious burn injuries. Two workers died and five others injured in a mishap at G S Alloys Castings Ltd on Saturday evening when a boiler in the factory suddenly exploded due to severe pressure.
Nearly 160 workers work in the GS Alloys Castings Ltd . After 150 workers left the factory in the evening, the boiler suddenly exploded causing burn injuries to eight workers.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu visited Andhra Hospital in Gollapudi on Sunday and expressed his deep condolence to the family members of the victims. He promised to extend all kinds of support to the victims and their families. Stating that officials had begun a probe into the reasons for the mishap, he suggested that all safety norms be followed to check accidents at the work places.
He informed that four families of the deceased will get Rs 6 lakh each from the management under insurance and Rs 5 lakhs from the state government under Chandranna Bima scheme.
He also announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each to critically injured workers and Rs 2 lakhs each to those who suffered minor injuries. Gannavaram police registered a case against the GS Alloys for the negligence of maintenance and for the death of the four workers.
