Akiveedu ACP (Sales Tax) denies harassing traders
Akiveedu: Assistant Commissioner (Sales Tax) of Akiveedu G Nirmala Jyothi has denied the allegations of harassment made by traders in Akiveedu town against the officials of the Commercial Tax Department in the town.
It may be mentioned that on Tuesday, the traders in Akiveedu town observed a bandh in protest against the alleged harassment by the commercial tax officials.
Responding to the bandh and dharna by the traders, the Assistant Commissioner said that every registered dealer has to issue a bill in the prescribed manner if the amount of bill exceeded R .200, as per the Sales Tax Act.
If the dealer fails to issue a bill, he is liable to pay a penalty of Rs 10,000 under State Goods and Services Tax (SGST) and Rs 10,000 under the Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST), she clarified. She said that she conducted 77 decoy operations and collected penalties worth Rs 7.70 lakh under SGST and Rs 4.10 lakh under CGST in Akiveedu circle and stood in the fourth place in decoy operations.
She said that during vehicular traffic checks, the officials have collected Rs 1.30 crore of which Rs.61 lakh was collected in 24 hours and stood in the first place in the State. All these raids conducted in the interests of the State Revenue only and there is no other harassment, she clarified.
