Traffic hit on National Highway as lorry overturns
Eluru: Traffic came to standstill on the National Highway on Monday morning following the accident on the bridge across Yerrakalva rivulet near Anantapalli village of Nallajerla mandal.
According to police, a truck with cotton cartons from Tamil Nadu to Visakhapatnam reached the bridge across Yerrakalva rivulet near Anantapalli village in Nallajerla mandal around 5.00 am on Monday.
As the driver could not able to see the road due to dense fog, the lorry hit the railings of bridge. In the incident, the lorry driver M Parameswaran,45, died on the spot after falling from the truck.
The truck later fell across the road causing no movement of any vehicle. Due to the accident, the traffic on the National Highway stranded on both sides over 5 km distance.
As the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s visit is due in the district, the police immediately reached the spot and lift the lorry with cranes to clear the traffic. After four hours of hectic efforts by police, the traffic was cleared around 9.00 am. Anantapalli police registered a case.
