Father alleges murder
Visakhapatnam: The Pothinamallayyapalem police will investigate into a murder case of Sri Chaitanya College student Shreyash, who died at his native place in Odisha.
Sailesh Kesharwani, father of Shreyash, lodged a complaint with Odisha police stating that his son died after suffering severe injuries caused by some of the students in the college. The Odisha police registered an FIR and arrived in the city and handed over to the Pothinamallayyapalem police to investigate further into the case.
According to the details, Shreyash got admission in Marikavalasa campus of Sri Chaitanya College. According to reports on December 21, 2017, he sustained injuries when some of his batchmates assaulted him.
However, the management took him to a hospital for treatment and and informed his parents on December 25 stating that Shreyash was suffering from pain. They parents rushed to the city and consulted some doctors. Later, they have taken him to their native place located close to Bhubaneswar. Shreyash died on January 6, 2018 while undergoing treatment.
During his treatment in Odisha, Shreyash informed his parents that some of his batchmates had beaten him up and same was informed to the management and principal but they did not take any action.
According to sources, the police collected the CCTV footage recorded at the campus. The sources said the Pothinamallayyapalem police have already questioned some students who allegedly assaulted Shreyash, The Pothinamallayyapalem police said that the Sambalpur police handed over the FIR copy and complaint given by Shreyash’s father.
The post-mortem report is yet to be received from the hospital in Bhubaneswar. However, according to the FIR registered by the Odisha police, the case would be investigated further, the police said.
