Build toilets in homes by March 31; CM to people

Dharmavaram (Anantapur): Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said the government was working overtime to transform the state into an open defecation-free one by the end of March 31. “People’s cooperation is a must to achieve the noble objective. If people do not cooperate, the government will stage dharnas before the people’s homes,” he said in a lighter vein.

The Chief Minister was speaking at Dharmavaram town in Janmabhoomi-MaaVooru programme. He said that every citizen not having a latrine should get one constructed before March 31 and show to the government that they are with the government on the issue. He also expressed the hope that he would be able to win the battle over poverty with people’s support.

The Chief Minister said that all representations given by the people during the 10-day Janmabhoomiwould be attended to in nine days. Every day an important subject had been discussed at the JB meet. He assured that the government was working day and night to end economic disparities. He noted that in one year all the tanks built by Sri Krishna Devaraya had been filled with Krishna water.

He also expressed happiness at almost completing all the irrigation projects initiated by NTR including GaleruNagari, Telugu Ganga and Handri-Neeva. He promised to link all the rivers in the state including Vamsadhara, Penna, Nagavali and Krishna and Godavariif he is voted back to power.

The government is taking steps to popularise organic cultivation in the state as it would minimise spending on farming. Naidu claimed that the state occupied 9th position in happiness index.

To demonstrate the success of Fibregrid, the Chief Minister spoke to pregnant women in Alurmandal in Tadipatri via video conference. A host of people’s representatives and ministers from the district attended the meeting apart from district officers, collector Veera Pandian and SP Ashok Kumar.
