Janmabhoomi, a grand success: Pradyumna

Tirupati: District Collector PS Pradyumna has said that the Janmaboomi-Maa Vooru programme was a grand success with the cooperation of all stakeholders in which various welfare and developmental activities were given priority.

Speaking to the media here on Friday, the Collector said the mega programme was held in 1,365 gram panchayats and 268 municipal wards in which 5,05,680 people have participated. During the programme, 13,864 ration cards were distributed, and 24,000 eligible pensioner details were uploaded online.

Another 7,600 house pattas, 2,672 instruments were distributed to the beneficiaries. Medical camps were held at 2,186 places and extended medical service to 91,628. Eye tests were conducted, and it was found that 4,380 people required spectacles which will be distributed soon.

Sports events were organised at 186 places and merit certificates were given to 9,244 persons. In 5K Run, 31,760 have participated while food festival was organised at 2,042 places, the Collector said. Every department was made to participate in Janmabhoomi programme and in the process, 378 schools were provided drinking water facility, power supply to 48 schools whereas construction of toilets began at 280 schools. 

In all, 3,013 kitchen gardens were started at Anganwadi centres and the vegetables will be used for children and pregnant women. During the 10-day programme, assets worth Rs 187 crore were distributed to SC, ST, and BC beneficiaries and construction of 5,000 toilets have begun. The Collector also extended Sankranti festival greetings to district people.
